So here goes nothing.
Garth graduated with his bachelors in December in Biology with a Biotech emphasis. We are currently living in an apartment in Denver, Colorado where Garth will attend Grad school this fall for two years.
The transition phase of moving from school, finding a job, and finding a place to live was rough. We did our best to rely on God's plan for us and be content with whatever may happen, but sometimes I struggled (more than Garth struggled) !
It took a while to get settled into the transition. We looked at soooo many apartments. It is hard to find a place to live in a new place, when you could choose literally any city. Ultimately we decide we enjoyed having Garth able to come home for lunches when he was in school. We also wanted his commute to be minimal, so we live barely a 5 minute drive from campus, which we love. We also love love love our apartment!
It is nice to live on a lake so that Camden and I can easily get out and go have a picnic or take a nice walk. There is also a park and a pool on the property so we will enjoy those this summer I am sure!
As we have been unpacking our apartment we have just laughed at how much more space we have than in our old apartment. Often I find myself wondering how we did it! But such is Rexburg!
Garth and I like our new ward as well and we both have been called to two callings. We will serve together in the Cub Scouts over the 11 year olds. I will teach primary and Garth is the primary pianist. We are pretty excited to get into our new callings!
Garth works at RK mechanical and as per usual works way too hard. He's averaging about 60 hours a week, and still spends as much free time with Camden and I as possible.
Saturdays are our family days and we try to always plan something us three can all enjoy. We also try to always make sure Garth gets a nap on those days [:
Church starts at 1pm for us on Sundays so its great because that's the one morning we wake together and have nowhere we need to rush to be! We generally begin our day with a walk around the Lake. We are told its two miles all the way around.
Camden has adjusted well and seems to be pretty happy here! He loves watching the ducks at the lake, and loves being in his stroller. We went to the Zoo recently and he really enjoyed that as well so we decided to get a Zoo pass so we can all three go a lot this summer!
I really enjoy life right now. I miss Garth and wish he worked less, but I love having the opportunity to really focus on my role as mother and wife. I don't feel as divided or limited as different living situations and being in school have made me feel. I generally try to get out and run the Lake with Camden every day and we keep pretty busy!
Garth and I both really enjoy Colorado. The weather is so much nicer than our previous Rexburg, Idaho. It is nice being surrounded by everything we need. Target, Home Depot, Chipotle, Qdoba, Chick-fil-a, multiple movie theaters, Costco and Sams, multiple malls--all those things we were missing!
I asked Garth what he likes most about living in Colorado and he said "sunshine". It is sunny here pretty much most of the time. When it snows here, it melts within a day a lot because the sun is always right back out.
I like that too! I mostly love just being around family! It's so nice to have my little sister just come pop in for the day.
Or go to dinner one night with my mom. Also the frequent visits from Paris and Anna are pretty okay too [;
We will be here for a minimum of two years, but neither of us would mind if it turned out to be longer!!
AMY I seriously love your life. I love your little boy and I love love love how great Garth is to you guys. I always knew he was a keeper, but you continue to show me exactly what kind of a man I want in life one day and what kind of a woman I want to be. YOU DA BEST GIRL. <3
